Malaysia’s recent announcement of receiving a 10-year low FDIs (Foreign Direct Investments) in 2020 sheds light on the need to invigorate domestic investments. Manufacturing, being the key industry in driving the development of an economy, brings us to focus on that. Are the current incentives for manufacturers sufficient to catalyse domestic investments? We examine Malaysia’s manufacturing incentives and choose as a benchmark, the same framework that set the USA on the way to becoming an Industrialised Nation.
